|When a tooth is heavily decayed, discoloured or broken, it may be necessary to install a crown in order to restore the tooth’s strength and shape.
A crown is a permanent prosthetic, which covers the existing tooth or implant. Crowns can be made from a range of materials including porcelain, metal alloy and acrylic.
Bridges are used to cover a gap when a tooth is missing. Usually crowns are made for the surrounding teeth, which are then attached to the prosthetic tooth, creating a ‘bridge’ over the gap.
Crowns and bridges usually need more than one visit to the surgery. As always, we only recommend procedures if they are necessary and try wherever possible to keep costs low. Contact us to arrange a consultation and find the right treatment for you.
