Maintaining healthy gums is essential for good oral health. We offer non-surgical treatments for periodontal (gum) disease. These are:
- Professional Dental Cleaning – The removal of all plaque and tartar from above and below the gum line. We may recommend professional cleaning twice a year if you are showing signs of gum disease.
- Scaling and root planing – A non-surgical deep clean, done under local anaesthetic. Scaling is where the plaque and tartar are scraped away, while planing is when the surface of the tooth root is smoothed. This removes bacteria and provides a clean surface for the gums to reattach to the teeth.
- Fluoride treatment – after cleaning, we apply fluoride to the teeth and gums.
